Honda knows that in the eyes of many car buyers, smaller is better. So, the automaker is in the process of introducing a new subcompact SUV to the North American market that Howdy Honda anticipates will be a smash hit in Austin and all over the country. Honda recently announced that this mini SUV will be called the HR-V, and the automaker offered up a few details about this exciting new addition to their lineup.
It seems as though the Honda HR-V will be pretty similar to the Honda Vezel, a subcompact SUV released in Japan earlier this year that was based on Honda’s urban SUV concept. The Vezel is a small SUV that includes Honda’s signature Magic Seat (a rear seat that folds down completely) as well as hidden back door handles. And the Vezel incorporates exterior style elements that are reminiscent of both the Honda Fit and the Honda CR-V. The HR-V will share these same features and will likely include some extras that Honda hasn’t revealed yet.
The HR-V will be competing with a fierce lineup of subcompact sports utility vehicles that have recently appeared in the North American market. These small SUVs include the Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, and Mini Countryman. It’ll be interesting to see how the HR-V distinguishes itself from rivals in unique and exciting ways.
Honda has announced that the price of the new HR-V will be lower than the current price of the CR-V, which is around $23,000 for a 2WD LX model. And the automaker announced that the 2015 HR-V will arrive to dealerships sometime this upcoming winter. At Howdy Honda, we’re quite excited about its arrival and will keep you in the loop with any new details we hear about this awesome new addition to the Honda lineup. In the meantime, we encourage you to see what else we have to offer and browse our new inventory!
