Japanese tech giant Sharp appears to be working on three new smartphones for Q1 2018, namely the Sharp Aquos V1 mini, Sharp A2 Lite, and the Sharp A Click, and while neither one of these models have been officially acknowledged by the manufacturer, they were all recently added to the official list of devices that support Google Play, suggesting that Google has been well informed of their eventual arrival on the market. Reports indicate that all of these three new devices will hit the market by the end of the first quarter of the year, though it’s unclear if they will remain exclusive to Vietnam and Indonesia, or whether they will enjoy a wider release.
As far as hardware specifications go there’s not much to be said in regards to the Sharp A2 Lite and A Click, however, there are some reports surrounding the Sharp Aquos V1 mini which seem to suggest that the device could also be launched in some regions under the name of Sharp Aquos S3 mini. Regardless, this particular device carries the model number ‘FS8018’ in the list of devices supporting Google Play, and the same model number previously emerged online through sources like Geekbench and China’s regulatory agency TENAA. According to the previous data, the device features a 5.48-inch display with an unusual screen resolution of 2040 x 1080, suggesting that it might have a notch similar to the Sharp Aquos S2. Other details worth mentioning include a 64-bit octa-core processor operating at a frequency of up to 2.2GHz, two RAM configurations with 4GB or 6GB on-board, and a 2,930mAh battery. The Sharp Aquos V1 mini should run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and be available in a variety of colors including Gold, Blue, and Obsidian Black.
As for the Sharp A2 Lite and Sharp A Click, Google refers to these two devices by the model numbers “FS8026” and “IF9003” respectively, but as yet there’s no additional information regarding their specifications. In any case, Sharp was previously reported to plan on entering the European market with a new series of smartphones set to be introduced at Mobile World Congress 2018, and as these new devices are rumored to debut before the end of the first quarter, perhaps they will make an appearance on stage during MWC in Barcelona, Spain, later this month.
