It does this by precisely controlling the torque supplied to each of the vehicle’s four wheels.  The system monitors each aspect of the 4WD system including Active Stability Control, Active Yaw Control and Anti-lock brakes, allowing it to distribute torque to the rear wheels and between right and left wheels according to their needs and stability.

With the S-AWC system, driver and vehicle behavior is monitored automatically. Information is gained from steering angle, engine torque, wheel speed, yaw rate, T/M gear ratio, acceleration and brake pressure. The vehicle also offers three driver-selectable modes including Auto, Snow and Gravel to improve the system’s performance depending on your driving conditions.
