2015 Subaru Outback

2015 Subaru Outback

Pros: Spacious interior with wagon versatility; controlled, comfortable ride; standard all-wheel drive

Cons: Middling fuel economy with 6-cylinder engine; some ergonomic issues with climate controls and available navigation system

CG Says: The Subaru Outback is redesigned for 2015, along with its conventional midsize sedan sibling, the Subaru Legacy. Among the key improvements in the new Outback are a more-refined interior, improved fuel economy, better passenger and cargo room, and new infotainment and safety features. The previous 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engines are enhanced in terms of fuel economy and quietness, and a CVT is now the lone transmission with either engine. The new model retains Outback’s characteristic blend of midsize station wagon and SUV attributes while delivering a host of welcome new features and improvements. Car loyalists, crossover intenders, and even those searching for an at least mildly off-road-capable SUV will find a lot to like with the Outback.
