What is this madness? While browsing through the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Flickrstream, we came across two photos of the intersection of Sheridan Road and Foster Avenue, both looking east toward the lake along Foster, both taken on August 11, 1944, but each showing traffic moving in opposite directions. The key, of course, is the shadows. The above photo, showing traffic moving westward (away from Lake Shore Drive), was taken late in the day while the below photo, showing traffic moving eastward (toward Lake Shore Drive), was taken early in the day.
