FAMOUS FEATURE The High Banks. Daytona’s banking sets it apart. Tilting up at 31 degrees, it’s nearly impossible to walk on and allows very high corner speeds.
TRIVIA Home to a huge number of both auto and motorcycle racing events (as well as part of Daytona's yearly Bike Week), the speedway's tri-oval track also hosts a slightly shorter bike course with twists and turns for AMA Superbike, MotoGP, and several other races. In addition to the Moto-Course's many events, Daytona also holds shorter flat-track races for dirtbikes. Despite many injuries and fatalities over the years (including the notorious 2001 death of NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt), the Speedway continues to live up to its name, with its fastest motorcycle lap set in the 2007 AMA Superbike races, by Suzuki team racer Ben Spies, with a blinding 1-minute-and-37.546 second record. Daytona provides access packages to a “fan deck" to watch teams in their garages as they prepare for races, and a “party porch" which combines amusement park-style attractions and concessions with a view of the track.
