Hemmings Find of the Day – 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup

1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne

Before they became status symbols priced on par with luxury cars (and equipped nearly as well), pickup trucks were, well, trucks. Bought by working men (and women) who needed to haul cargo on and off the beaten track, they were models of function over form, with very few frills offered on the option list. This 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup, for sale on Hemmings.com, harkens back to such a time. You won’t find leather seats here, or automatic climate control, or a 16-speaker audio system with acoustics that would put Carnegie Hall to shame; instead, you’ll find a bench seat wrapped in thick vinyl, a 350-cu.in. V-8 shifted manually, and front hubs that require exiting the truck to lock them for four-wheeling. It does come with an AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes and aftermarket air conditioning, which give it more than a passing nod to civility. What it lacks in luxury, however, it makes up for in durability, and chances are good that with the right owner and regular maintenance, this truck will still be in service 40+ years from now.
