Going significantly over the speed limit can get you in jail and have your car impounded.
Ontario Provincial Police say Songmao Li, of Mississauga, say a 22-year-old man has been charged with stunt driving after his BMW clocked at nearly 230 kilometers an hour on a 100 km/h highway in Mississauga, Ont.
He was pulled over shortly after 1 a.m. and was later charged with stunt driving and other violations. His licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded as well.
It’s unknown the model of the BMW vehicle impounded.
Police also said earlier this week that speed was a factor in 51 deaths on Ontario’s roads this year.
U.S. has similar laws and with many states enforcing the 55 mph highway speed, the repercussions are just as severe.
