To derive the 4×4 hardware from the Duster.
Speaking to RushLane, Nissan India Operation’s new president Mr. Guillaume Sicard revealed that the Nissan Terrano AWD is slated to launch in India next year.
The Duster’s i-DriveTech 4×4 system will be borrowed.
The Renault Duster AWD has just been launched in the country and its cousin from Nissan will feature the same hardware. The i-DriveTech shift-on-the-fly 4×4 system, a creation of Nissan, features three driving modes – 2WD, Auto and AWD.
Other noteworthy features on the AWD include Electronic Torque Control, ASR, ESP and Hill Start Assist.
Likely to be available only on the top-end variant, the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine in its 110 PS avatar generates a peak torque of 248 Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Terrano AWD is likely to be based on the top-end variant.
Just like regular variants, the Terrano AWD will demand a premium over the Duster AWD. The rebadged compact crossover with the 4×4 system was showcased at the Moscow Motor Show in August.

Nissan recently celebrated the first year anniversary of the Terrano by introducing two special edition variants with contrast black roof and bonnet stripes. The limited edition also debuted Head-up display on the SUV.
