Audi Sport TT Cup race car launched

Called the Audi Sport TT Cup, this new series will form part of the DTM race series from 2015. At each of the six DTM events in 2015, two Audi Sport TT Cup races are planned. It will also be a packed grid as 24 cars will participate.

Interested parties can now apply for 18 of these cars (at www.audi-motorsport.com), as six of the cars are reserved for guest drivers. Even though this race series will be seen as a starting point for beginners, the specifications of the race car looks tantilising. The race car tips the scales at only 1 125 kg. The 2,0-litre TFSI engine develops 228 kW, while the push-to-pass function pushes this figure briefly up by 22 kW. As is the case with the production car, the race car inherited its six-speed S tronic transmission “nearly unchanged” according to Audi. The driver will also have access to an active differential that is electronically variable from the cockpit. This device will help to ensure optimal traction on the front axle.

“For me it was clear that a driving machine like the new Audi TT belongs on the race track as well. With the Audi Sport TT Cup we have found an exciting approach. The TT is going to thrill fans and drivers” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, member of Audi’s board of management for technical development.
